Luovi Productions creates places and moments for culture through curation, production, and communication.
For over two decades, Luovi has built platforms for international highlights in design, architecture, and contemporary art, fostering dialogue and connections that expand opportunities for creative industries.
Founded in 1995, Luovi Productions is a Helsinki-based company with a world-wide reach. Best known as the producer and founder of the largest design festival in the Nordics, Helsinki Design Week and the Weekly media, Luovi is also the founder and facilitator behind Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale, Arkkitehdin talo (House by an Architect) Valo/On and Kulttuurihalli (the Culture Hall).
Expansive expertise in concept development, an eye for detail, solid communications know-how and broad networks, and a strong understanding of the new and the interesting make Luovi a versatile partner for projects within various fields of culture. Founded by an awarded and appreciated pioneer in the design field, Kari Korkman, Luovi employs professionals in the fields of event management, design, communications and marketing.
Curation
The world today calls for a clear vision and careful curation. Luovi believes that there’s so much in the world to explore and experience – sometimes things can feel overwhelming. This is where Luovi can take the lead; how toembrace and expose the unusual and the unexpected in a way that’s inspiring, visionary, yet approachable. Inspired by our work with curators such as Kaj Kalin (FI), Anniina Koivu (FI/ITA), Jasper Morrison (UK), Jenni Nurmenniemi (FI), Margriet Vollenberg (NL), Jane Withers (UK) Sini Rinne-Kanto / The Community (FI/FRA) and Ikko Yokoama (JPN), we are always looking for new ways to see.
Luovi believes in connectedness over a singular vision; by creating places and spaces for encounters and serendipity, we can broaden our perspectives and allow something new to emerge. Luovi’s unparalleled networks within the creative fields globally keep us alert and awake; we pay attention and listen carefully also to the quiet signals.
Production
Back in 1995 when Luovi first started, the world was a different place, and the idea of design management was only just in development. The market was open for someone who could bring together designers and the industrial players. Along came Luovi, emphasizing the role of creativity in the commercialization process. Best known for our work in the fields of design and architecture, our resume also includes tens of projects from other areas of urban culture. Luovi favours multidisciplinary collaboration and is always open to something yet to be tried.
Our creative ambitions are always set high, but our team takes pride in ensuring we also deliver what we promise in a professional and prompt manner. We value open communications as an important part of any creative process and understand the economical realities many organizations are faced with, especially in today’s challenging commercial climate.
Communication
Talk about design can feel difficult and alienating if not done right. Luovi believes artistic integrity and accessibility can co-exist; our communications are honed to make design matters inspiring for professionals yet interesting to the broader public. We can offer interesting news angles and help articulate complex approaches and projects in a way that makes design understandable as an integral part of our everyday lives.
In 2014 Luovi founded the design media outlet, Helsinki Design Weekly, and has since extensively developed its art of communications. We’re building our communications portfolio and interested in new creative opportunities to put our versatile know-how and networks into good use.
